Rod Quinn
More than 30 years experience in managing research and development organizations and cross-cutting programs involving multiple partners, with technical focus on solid state chemistry, surface/interfacial science, inorganic materials development, electrochemistry, primary electrochemical power sources, and advanced materials development and application. Currently serving as Director of PNNL’s Asia-Pacific Interactions responsible for establishing strategic collaborations and programs with Asia-Pacific partners. Previously served as Associate Laboratory Director for the 745-person, $140 million Environmental Technology Directorate at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Previously managed the Process Science and Engineering Division within PNNL. Served as the Science and Engineering Director of the $600 million Hanford Tank Waste Remediation Program and managed DOE’s National Technology Development Program for high-level wastes. Led a $30 million multi-laboratory, industry collaborative program in developing high-risk, high-potential payoff advanced materials technology that became an early model for DOE’s Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. Received the prestigious DOE Award for Excellence for integrated technology development, implementation and deployment for major weapons systems components. The components met rigorous Diamond stamp quality requirements set by the Department of Defense. Responsible for major business development activities in the Southwest, including developing collaborative programs with other national laboratories and universities.
